What is a coconut?

Coconuts have been grown in tropical regions for more than 4,500 years but recently became known for their flavor and health benefits. It is used for its water, milk, oil, and slightly sweet white meat. They have MCTs, dietary fiber, protein, several important minerals, and some B vitamins.

Mature coconuts are brown with hairy shells, while young coconuts are green or orange on the outside. The young coconut also has white meat and water, but has a milder taste, less fat content, and lower calories than the mature coconut.

What is a mango?

Mangoes are considered by many as the king of fruits. Low in calories yet high in nutrients, they contain vitamins C, A, B, and K; dietary fiber, potassium, and other vitamins and minerals. In fact, one cup of sliced mango meets 70% of the Vitamin C we need daily (RDI)! They have antioxidants that boost immunity. There are many mango varieties, but the Philippine mango (locally known as the “Carabao Mango”) is known around the world for its tangy sweetness, soft almost buttery texture, and thin peel. The Carabao mango can also be eaten unripe, when they are still green. Filipinos often eat this sour green mangoes with rock salt or fish paste.
